Understanding Your Lab Results
What is eGFR?
eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) measures how well your kidneys are filtering waste from your blood. It's calculated using your creatinine level, age, gender, and race.
CKD Stages:
- • Stage 1-2: Normal to mildly reduced function
- • Stage 3: Moderately reduced function
- • Stage 4: Severely reduced function
- • Stage 5: Kidney failure
Important Lab Values
Creatinine
Waste product filtered by kidneys. High levels indicate reduced kidney function.
BUN
Blood Urea Nitrogen measures protein breakdown. High levels suggest kidney problems.
Hemoglobin
Low levels can indicate anemia, common in advanced CKD.
